Moving Companies vs. DIY Moving: What's the Best Way to Go?

This is a Guest Post by: Steven Thorn

It is quite surprising why some people opt to hire vans and personally move their possessions instead of getting professional moving services considering that the amount to be spent on both options are somehow similar. If you are moving from a small house or flat, it is logical to utilize the do-it-yourself approach but when the quantity of your belongings is great, it is wiser to hire moving companies.

Movers
Typically, the reasons why a lot of people choose to do the moving process personally are moving costs. What they fail to take to consider are the efforts and stress involved in the process. Just imagine the time and energy you would be spending on packing, loading, driving, and unpacking your belongings.
You need to take into account that when you do the moving by yourself, the price of hiring a van is not the only amount you would be paying as you need to purchase removal boxes and pay fuel charges. In addition to that, you need to return the van the soonest possible time after the transfer to avoid paying extra charges. Some of your friends or relatives may help as you move but remember that you would most likely spend for some bottles of beers and a box of pizza, add this cost as well.
There are three different types of vans available that can be hired for moving purposes. It is fairly small and not much ideal for packing. The other van is a Luton box which is the most widely used among the three. The third and the largest type is the 7.5 ton wagon.
There is nothing wrong in opting for DIY moving as long as you are well prepared for it
